About Tom

TomWarkTom Wark has been an active member of the California wine industry as a consultant, marketer and advocate for industry reform since entering the trade in 1990. Since 1993 he has provided public and media relations consulting via his consulting firm, Wark Communications. Today he continues to serve wineries, wine industry associations and wine service companies in this capacity.

In 2004, Wark was one of the country’s first wine bloggers when he founded FERMENTATION: The Daily Wine Blog. FERMENTATION is recognized today as one of the leading wine blogs and has been honored with awards as well as a significant readership and following among members of the wine trade and wine aficionados. Wark’s promotion of blogging led him to found the American Wine Blog Awards in 2007 and was a co-founder of the Wine bloggers Conference in 2008.

Wark is a regular speaker, panelist and moderator at industry conferences where he speaks to issues including marketing, public relations, the media, social media and blogging. Tom is also the founder of the American Wine Consumer Coalition, a national advocacy organization representing the interests of wine consumers.

Most recently, Wark founded The Cider Journal, an online publication dedicated to Hard Cider reviews and to reporting and commenting on the quickly growing hard cider industry.
